The intensity of a short-term mission trip epitomizes INVOLVE YOUTH's mission to energize young people for service. INVOLVE YOUTH teams up with Maranatha Volunteers International for the following short-term mission trips.
Carmichael Church's Maranatha Mission Trip
Every few years the Carmichael Church sends a large group on a Maranatha mission trip. Plans are taking shape for a March 18 - April 1, 2012 mission trip to Nicaragua. The major construction component will be a large school. Other service activities include a medical clinic and children's ministry. A full crew will work in the kitchen as well. Monthly meetings following the church potluck started October 1. While Carmichael Church members will form the bulk of the people going on this mission trip, others have joined as has happened in the past. The
cost per person is $2,000 which includes round trip
air fare from Sacramento. Additional fund raising is be done for construction supplies, with a goal of $50,000. The entire Carmichael Church will be involved in various aspects of this mission outreach even though only about 65 people will go to Nicaragua as the church's representatives on this mission trip. Maranatha's Family Project Mission Trip
Here's a mission trip for the entire family. Start your
summer with the June 14-24, 2012 mission trip to Nicaragua with Maranatha Volunteers International. The cost per person (including kids) is $795 per person plus air fare. Some of the programming is geared specifically for children as well as for the entire family. Whether your "family" consists of just you or several generations or portions of families, consider joining this larger "family" for Maranatha's Summer Family Project. Ultimate Workout This annual mission trip for high school age teens gathers young people from all over North America and beyond for a two-week construction and outreach project in various countries in Latin America. The dates for Ultimate Workout 22 are July 17-30, 2012, with staff arriving on July 15. We expect UW to take a completely new turn as we enter the one-day church (and one-day school) phase of Maranatha projects. Plans are still being brain-stormed on how to do this with such a large group and the potential need for even more smaller groups and groups that may need to be mobile. Nicaragua will be the country, but more details will be available shortly with a site visit taking place at the end of January. The cost is $900 per person plus air fare. The majority of participants and staff fund raise with their local church and family members in order to participate. Applications are available, so find out more when you click here. Jump Start This annual youth mission trip emphasis weekend gets strategically placed halfway between each Ultimate Workout. The last one was January 7-8, 2012 in Sacramento, California. It began with the Carmichael Church youth rally, included a service component, and then gathering at the Maranatha office in Roseville for fellowship and an UW reunion. That's where we saw the full-length version of Tompaul Wheeler's video collection 20 years of UW, called Leap of Faith. Sunday at the Maranatha office included youth mission trip training and leadership development. The cost was $20/person, but only $10/person for those who registered by January 4, 2012. A nearby hotel for
high school age teens was available for lodging, but most stayed on the gym floor at Sacramento Adventist Academy for free (sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag on a pad). It once again proved to be a time of inspiration to participate in short-term missions for youth. Many found their mission spirit renewed and made commitments for future involvement. The next "Jump Start" will be in January, 2013.
